X2M Smart Energy is a bundle of features designed to integrate into your home and reduce your energy costs. It includes a solar system (5kW+), a Home Energy Management System (HEMS) and connection to your estate’s community battery (where fitted). You also get access to partner benefits from NAB and Solahart to help maximise your savings.

1KOMMA5 is a global clean energy company headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, with over 2,500 employees across 80+ locations in seven countries. In Australia, 1KOMMA5 brings together Arkana Energy Group, Solaray Energy and Kozco Energy Group, making it one of the country’s top five national solar installers. They install solar systems, battery storage (including Tesla Powerwall), EV chargers, heat pumps and hot water systems. 1KOMMA5 is certified by Enphase (Platinum installer), Tesla (Powerwall Certified) and Origin Energy (Preferred Partner). Globally, 1KOMMA5 has completed over 300,000 installations.

Energy costs are one of the largest ongoing expenses for Australian households. Under the National Construction Code 2022 (NCC2022), new homes must meet a 7-star energy efficiency rating, which means thinking about how your home generates and uses energy is now part of the building process. Planning your energy approach during the build — rather than retrofitting later — gives you the best return on investment and the lowest ongoing costs from day one.

Your builder may include a smaller solar system to meet the NCC2022 minimum requirements, but a 5kW+ system generates significantly more energy and greater savings. The difference between a builder’s standard 2kW system and Smart Energy’s 5kW+ system can mean hundreds of dollars more in annual savings. X2M Smart Energy also pairs your solar with a HEMS and community battery access, which together deliver savings that solar alone cannot achieve.

For new homes, the solar system and HEMS will be included in your home build cost as part of the X2M Smart Energy bundle. Connection to the community battery (where fitted) is free and generates a credit of $75 per year. There are no ongoing subscription fees for the core X2M Smart Energy service for the first 5 years following installation. A HEMS is a smart controller that sits alongside your electricity meter and automatically manages how your home uses energy. It prioritises solar power over grid electricity, pre-conditions your home (heating or cooling) during peak solar generation, and directs surplus energy to compatible appliances like hot water systems. The HEMS works in the background – you do not need to manage it day to day, but you can monitor your energy use in real time through the system.

Smart Energy reduces your energy costs in three ways:

• Your solar system generates free electricity during the day
• The HEMS automatically shifts your energy use to times when solar is available, increasing the amount of free energy you consume rather than sending it back to the grid at a low feed-in rate
• The community battery (where fitted) stores excess solar and returns value to you through an annual payment

Together, these three components work as an integrated system to reduce your grid reliance and lower your bills

The combined Smart Energy bundle can save over $1,000 per year. A 5kW+ solar system saves approximately $816 per year, HEMS optimisation adds around $121 per year by increasing your solar self-consumption, and the community battery returns approximately $75 per year. Actual savings depend on your home size, energy habits, appliances and solar orientation.

No. You choose your own electricity retailer. X2M Smart Energy works with any energy provider — it manages how your home generates and uses energy, not who supplies your grid electricity.

No, you don’t need to change your financing. The NAB Green Home Loan is an optional benefit available to Smart Energy customers. Details are provided in the X2M Smart Energy info package for your estate. If you already have finance you’re happy with, you can still participate in X2M Smart Energy without using NAB.

Discuss your interest in X2M Smart Energy when you purchase your land or contact your estate’s sales office. From there, complete the “Join X2M Smart Energy” on our contact page and work with your builder to integrate X2M Smart Energy into your home design, choose any Solahart smart appliances at discounted rates, and start saving from day one when you move in. Your solar, HEMS and community battery connection are all set up as part of the build process.

We believe participating in X2M Smart Energy is the simplest, easiest and most effective way for you to install the right amount of solar for your home and start enjoying energy savings while building a more sustainable, energy-efficient home. Our solar partner can help you if you think you might need even more solar.

No. But your builder will need to work with our solar partner to install your solar and HEMS.

You can make suggestions, but your builder will work with our solar partner to determine the best roof position and panel angle to maximise energy generation based on your home’s design, materials and orientation.

A 5kW+ solar system is normally around 12 to 16 panels depending on the wattage of each panel. A 400W panel means you will need 12 or 13 panels, taking up approximately 20 to 30 square metres on your roof. If you have compatible appliances, we will use surplus solar to pre-heat your water and pre-cool your home, maximising the value of your solar energy.

Payback depends on your system size, home size, appliances and energy habits. Generally, a 5kW+ system saves around $816 per year. This does not include additional benefits available to X2M Smart Energy customers such as HEMS optimisation, community battery payments or NAB interest savings. (Assumes home consuming 15 kWh/day in summer and 20 kWh/day in winter. Generation of 3.6 kWh per 1 kW of solar. Flat rate tariff of $0.30 inc GST. Feed-in tariff of $0.052. Solar self-consumption from 25% to 75%. No export limitations.)

All elements of the solution — solar panels, inverters, community battery (where fitted) and HEMS software — are compliant with Australian Standards and come with their own equipment and installation warranties.

If you are building a new home, you pay for X2M Smart Energy through your builder as part of the staged construction payments. If you are installing Smart Energy in an existing home, you pay when your solar installation is completed, via our solar partner.

Yes — just ensure the solar inverter and HEMS are compatible with your battery and EV charger. Our solar partners can help with this.

You are free to leave X2M Smart Energy at any time without penalty. Your HEMS will stop operating and you may lose the additional plan benefits.

Yes. You can connect to X2M Smart Energy and enjoy the potential savings from the solar and HEMS bundle. Owners of existing homes may be contacted separately. Reach out to your land developer sales office or contact us through this website if you are interested.
