One of Australia’s most accomplished public finance leaders. As Victorian Treasurer (1992–1999), Alan oversaw the privatisation of $30 billion in government enterprises, transforming the state’s fiscal position and was also the world’s first Minister for IT and Multimedia (Victoria 1996-1999). Alan also co-led the Macquarie Bank team that won the Sydney Airport privatisation — one of the largest infrastructure transactions in Australian history. A former barrister and law firm partner, Alan has chaired multiple ASX-listed technology companies including Senetas, Axon Instruments, and Symex. He served as Inaugural Chairman of the Medical Research Commercialisation Fund and is currently Emeritus Advisor at Brandon BioCatalyst and Non-Executive Director of Knosys Limited (ASX:KNO). Appointed Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to parliament, public administration, and the financial sector.
